PSA News

Dear TIS parents

Happy Thanksgiving!

This week, to round off a wonderful term of Parent Education workshops, the Japanese department hosted our last two workshops of the semester. Niki sensei and Sayaka sensei conducted the first workshop on Japanese for non-native speakers in the PYP on Tuesday, followed by Yuko sensei and Chika sensei hosting the same workshop for MYP learners on Wednesday. We would like to express our thanks to the Japanese teachers for their very informative workshops and for their time and enthusiasm. The workshops generated very positive and constructive discussion between the parents and teachers on how we can support the students’ language learning. There was strong support from parents for children to extend their language learning outside of the classroom and to support their learning at home.

If you would like more information, the learning goals of the Japanese curriculum can be found on the school website: on the homepage ‘Learning’ tab, click ‘Curriculum’ and at the bottom of the page you will find ‘What Learning Outcomes Do We Strive For?’. The Japanese curriculum learning goals are listed there, along with all other subjects.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to Amy and Bonnie, who have worked very hard this term to co-ordinate an amazing number of Parent Education workshops, and to our dedicated teaching staff for providing them! It was a big investment of their time and energy, for which we are very thankful.

Of course, we haven’t yet finished with PSA events this term. Dates to add to your calendar this week:
