“Since I moved to Greece I have been able to use my knowledge from TIS for my grades, relations and usual class work. All my grades are still A’s thanks to the learning methods at TIS. I really miss the school and all my friends. TIS has given me a chance to explore who I am, what I want to do and what I want to become. It broadens your ideas for your future. PARENTS

“Amaury and Amelie are now at the International School of Athens in Greece. They both settled easily. Amaury is in Grade 10 and is going to start the IB program next year (with high level Math and Science) and Amelie is in Grade 8 with A’s in all of her subjects thanks to the experiences they have acquired at TIS. They miss the friendliness and interaction between teachers and students, the teaching methods and the real international aspect of TIS. ”

Ingrid Marque

“Lotta and Olle are now at the International school of Lyon – a school with much the same set up and atmosphere as TIS. Both Lotte and Olle as well as me and my husband appreciated TIS and therefore we chose the same model of learning here in Lyon. We were satisfied with both the curriculum as well as the extracurricular activities at TIS. The general atmosphere was both inspiring and joyful. We actually did a short visit at TIS again, and if felt like coming home! ”

Anna Velin (Swedish mother of Lotta (G9) and Olle (G8)

“With regards to the academic transition, we expected it to be a difficult year for our son as he caught up with his peers. In fact, it has been smooth. He was very well prepared to reenter a highly academic school with a very different approach to learning at TIS. He was placed in the regular math group but quickly moved up to Advanced Math. ”

(mother of G5 boy)

“From my perspective TIS was a wonderful school and a wonderful experience for Dana. She was able to meet children and staff from all over the world. The field trips (Hiroshima and China) were amazing, as were the ski trips. The curriculum was very global and relevant to today’s world. Yet the school was small enough for each child to be known as an individual. I would not hesitate to recommend TIS to anyone. ”

(Pat Racklyeft, mother of Dana, 2006 TIS graduate)

“My daughter seemed to enjoy her school life so much at TIS. She enjoyed studying, sports and made a lot of friends. She has grown up to be very internationally-minded, which I had expected most, as she had friends of various nationalities in her class and had alot of chance to see other world. We are really grateful. I hope all children at TIS grow up to be considerate, happy and warm people. Our family love TIS”

(Japanese mother of 2008 TIS graduate)

“Very solid education with a good atmosphere and professional teachers ”

(Mrs. Jonsson, mother of Herman, Wilmer and Petter)

“TIS has indeed helped my children become independent thinkers and inquirers”

(Akila Ganesh, mother of Sriram 2008 TIS graduate)

“Academically, the transition has been excellent. Both children have been chosen for the Gifted and Talented program. Emotionally, it’s been difficult and we miss TIS EVERYDAY!”

“Over the last 4 years I have placed faith in and trusted all the teachers at TIS and have never been disappointed. My children have always been very happy.”

English mother

“One of our fondest memories will be of TIS. It has been wonderful watching our daughter blossom from being shy with very little English to a self-confident well-spoken young lady. TIS is not a big and cold school but more like an extended family.”

Israeli father

“I am so happy we found TIS for our children. They could not wait to go to school everyday. My children returned to Australia happy, confident and well prepared academically.”

“We miss many things about Japan and by far the most, TIS. Thank you for contributing to making our life in Japan a positive experience. Our children have adjusted without any challenges in regards to schoolwork. They continue to exhibit confidence to contribute and collaborate with others. We wish you all the best.”

American mother

“My children very much enjoyed their experience at TIS. Their transition back to Germany was smooth. The environment at TIS of asking questions and wanting to learn more because the lessons were interesting was super.”

German father

“Actually it took her only a week to make good friends in the class and after that she has no problem at all. At the beginning she got several tests to check her academic level in various fields. All the results showed that her level is much higher than that of her actual age.”

“It’s interesting to see Graham’s progress this year–well, I don’t know if progress is the right word. Unlike last year, he has had a lot of busy work but I think learned very little. He did great in math, of course (in large part thanks to your wonderful training), but I can totally see that education in my country is not very good anymore. I long for Michelle’s projects and your approach to math–things that can’t be tested on a multiple choice end of year exam.”

LIFE AFTER TIS

Students at TIS come from over 50 nations and cultures. We are a truly international school! Students also come from many different school systems and curriculums and they thrive personally and academically in the IB programs we offer at TIS.

The PYP and MYP are perfectly suited for students who move around the world. It is therefore not surprising to see that when they move on to other schools and other curriculums that they continue to be successful. Our Grade 8 graduates consistently go on to their first choice of school whether they stay in Tokyo or go to Europe, Australia or America. However, this choice can be a difficult one, especially if you are staying in Tokyo. We are therefore proud to inform you that TIS now has an enrollment alliance with Yokohama International School, also an IB World School. This alliance guarantees a place in Grade 9 for our graduates.

Please contact the admissions office for more information with regards to the alliance. We keep in touch with our alumni and we are proud to announce that this year the second wave of our students will be graduating Grade 12 as truly international citizens of the world. Many of our TIS alumni are now studying in prestigious universities and colleges around the world such as Europe, United States, Africa and Australia.
