Council of International Schools (CIS)

We are fully accredited by the Council of International School (CIS).  Evaluation takes place every five years: most recently in 2009. CIS is the largest international-school focused accreditation organization. Besides accreditation, it also focuses on staff recruitment, board training and collaborating with national governments through their ministries of education. CIS is responsible for accrediting 250 schools worldwide. http://cois.org

New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC)

We are fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Evaluation takes place every five years: most recently in 2009. NEAS is the oldest regional accreditation organization in the United States. It provides accreditation for 2000 public and independent schools, colleges and universities in the six states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont and over 100 American international schools worldwide. It accredits all schools in the New England Area including Ivy League Universities. http://www.neasc.org

International Baccalaureate Organization PYP & MYP

TIS is a fully authorized IBPYP and IBMYP School. The IB is a recognized leader in the field of international education. The IB carry out stringent, formal evaluations of all their schools on a regular basis (every 3-5 years).  Tokyo International School has consistently performed highly during such independent inspections. At TIS, our programme coordinators are seconded by the IB to facilitate workshops in other international schools across the Asia Pacific Region. East Asian Regional Conference of Overseas Schools (EARCOS)

This is a regional organization which brings members of the international school community in Eastern Asia together to collaborate through many professional development conferences and workshops. http://www.earcos.org/

European Council of International Schools (ECIS)

This is a regional organization which brings schools together from around the world to participate in professional development conferences. http://www.ecis.org

Principal Training Center (PTC)

International Schools are unique. They operate under special circumstances and have special needs. The Principals’ Training Center for International School Leadership (PTC) was founded in 1989 to meet the professional development needs of leaders in international schools. Well over 2500 international educators have participated in these training programs. http://www.theptc.org

Japan Council of International Schools (JCIS)

This is a Council which includes all of the accredited international schools in Japan. It focuses on building a cohesive and collaborative environment through various meetings and professional development offerings. http://www.jcis.jp/

Association of Support & Curriculum Development (ASCD)

ASCD is arguably the best resource based professional development association in the world. You will find most of the top international schools in the world are members of this US based association. http://www.ascd.org/
