Digital Citizenship Last Friday on the 10th of May, the Grade 5-8 students had the unique opportunity to lean from, and work with, Kim Cofino, the IT Coach at Yokohama International School. The topic of the one hour seminar was on Digital Citizenship and what attitudes, behaviors, and ethics are necessary to have in order to be responsible users of Information Technology. Students Celebrate Silly Shel Silverstein For the past few weeks, grade 6 Drama students have been discovering the joy of Shel Silverstein. They read a variety of his poems from Where the Sidewalk Ends and A Light in the Attic and chose a poem to present. The focus of the unit was on voice so they practiced enunciating, projecting and speaking at an understandable pace. They also joined up with another group to act out each others poems. Artscape 2013 TIS Art students were again represented in Artscape 2013. This major exhibition of art from 22 International Schools in the Kanto Region of Japan featured the work of 51 Grade 5 to 8 TIS students. A wide range of work in the exhibition featured the excellent quality of the TIS submissions. They compared very favorably indeed to the all the other work including the Grade 11 and 12 work from the bigger schools. Works such as Jack Hayes and Emu Yoshimura ‘Planes flown by Gods’ and Nicholas Tubito’s eggshell mosaic ‘Beethoven’ made a very strong statement about the quality...
